Job Description

The Finance, Inventory & Compliance Officer will be responsible for protecting business profitability through strong financial discipline, tight inventory controls, and full statutory compliance across liquor wholesale and retail operations.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Conduct daily reconciliation of sales (cash, M-Pesa, POS, bank, wholesale invoices)
• Manage inventory systems including GRNs, batch tracking, expiry monitoring, and stock counts
• Investigate stock variances, shrinkage, and potential fraud cases
• Process supplier invoices, payment schedules, and cost monitoring
• Track pricing, margins, and profitability by product and category
• Ensure tax and statutory compliance: VAT, excise documentation, PAYE, business permits, county levies
• Prepare financial and operational reports: daily sales, weekly stock movement, monthly P&L
• Maintain proper financial records, audit trails, and documentation
• Implement and monitor internal controls and risk management procedures
• Support external audits, inspections, and regulatory reviews

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Procurement, or related field
• Minimum 3 years’ experience in finance, inventory, or compliance roles (retail, FMCG, or liquor sector preferred)
• Strong understanding of stock control, reconciliations, and loss prevention
• Practical knowledge of KRA tax requirements and statutory compliance
• High integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail
• Strong analytical and reporting skills
• Proficiency in Excel, POS systems, and basic accounting software
• Ability to work under pressure and independently with minimal supervision

Technical & Professional Skills • Strong cash management and daily reconciliation skills • Advanced inventory control (GRNs stock audits variance analysis expiry management) • Financial reporting and basic management accounts (sales costs margins P&L) • Knowledge of KRA tax compliance (VAT excise documentation PAYE) • Ability to set up and enforce internal controls and fraud prevention systems • Proficiency in Excel POS systems and accounting software Operational & Analytical Skills • High attention to detail and documentation accuracy • Strong problem-solving and investigative capability • Ability to analyse margins pricing and stock movement • Risk identification and control mindset • Ability to work independently and under pressure Behavioural & Leadership Skills • High integrity confidentiality and ethical standards • Strong organisation and time management • Firm but professional engagement with staff and suppliers • Clear communication and reporting discipline • Results-driven with strong accountability culture
