Job summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor to join our dynamic projects team. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in managing all costs relating to building and civil engineering projects from initial feasibility through to final account ensuring projects are delivered on time, and within the budget

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain detailed cost plans, budgets, and Bills of Quantities (BOQ) for new builds, renovations, and infrastructure projects.
  • Conduct quantity take-offs from architectural, structural, and MEP drawings using standard methods (e.g., NRM or similar).
  • Administer contracts (including FIDIC, JCT, or local equivalents), handle variations, claims, interim valuations, and final accounts.
  • Perform regular cost monitoring, forecasting, cash flow projections, and value engineering to identify savings and control expenditure.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports, cost-value reconciliations (CVR), and risk assessments for project stakeholders.
  • Assess and manage project risks related to cost, procurement, and contractual matters.
  • Ensure compliance with Kenyan building regulations, health & safety standards, and sustainability requirements.
  • Support procurement of materials and services while achieving best value.
  • Contribute to post-contract reviews and lessons learned for continuous improvement.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Building Economics, Construction Management, or a closely related field from a recognized university.
  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, Buildsoft, Cubit, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel; familiarity with BIM tools is a plus.
  • Excellent numerical, analytical, and financial management skills with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and deliver accurate work.
  • Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and lifecycle costing is desirable.
