HEAD OF LEGAL
Job summary
We seek a seasoned Head of Legal to lead the legal function, ensuring compliance, minimizing risk, and supporting strategic goals. The role covers legal advisory, corporate governance, contract management, regulatory compliance, litigation, debt recovery, and policy development.

Key Responsibilities
Provide legal advisory to management and departments on operations, risk, and strategy.
Ensure compliance with Data Protection, CBK guidelines, Employment Law, and credit market regulations.
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents.
Oversee litigation, debt recovery, and dispute resolution processes.
Ensure strong corporate governance and company secretarial functions.
Support credit risk management, debt recovery strategies, and enforcement processes.
Develop and update policies, SOPs, and compliance frameworks.
Engage with regulators, government agencies, external counsel, and strategic partners.
Requirements
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from a recognized institution.
Advocate of the High Court of Kenya with a valid practicing certificate.
7–10 years of professional legal experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior/managerial role.
MUST have worked as a Company Secretary.
Experience in financial services, banking, microfinance, credit, or fintech highly preferred.
Strong expertise in contract drafting, regulatory compliance, litigation, debt recovery, and corporate governance.
