Job summary

We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Health Records Officer to manage patient records, ensure accurate documentation, and support efficient health information management within our facility. The ideal candidate should uphold confidentiality, maintain organized records systems, and support clinical and administrative teams

Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient medical records.
  • Register patients and manage filing systems for both manual and electronic records.
  • Retrieve and distribute patient files to authorized personnel when required.
  • Ensure confidentiality and security of patient information at all times.
  • Prepare and submit health statistics and reports as required by management and regulatory bodies.
  • Support implementation and maintenance of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
  • Verify completeness and accuracy of patient documentation.
  • Archive inactive records according to hospital policies.
  • Assist in SHA claims documentation and records verification.
  • Collaborate with clinical staff to improve records management processes.
  • Ensure compliance with Ministry of Health standards and data protection regulations.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Diploma or Certificate in Health Records and Information Technology/Management from a recognized institution.
  • Registration with the relevant professional body where applicable.
  • Minimum of [1–3] years’ experience in a healthcare setting is an added advantage.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • Good organizational and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision and within a team environment.
