Maintenance Supervisor – Biscuit Manufacturing

Reporting to: Factory Manager
Location: Nairobi
Type of Employment: 1-year Renewable contract

Brief on Client
Our client is one of the leading biscuit manufacturers in Kenya.

Responsibilities

Provide Engineering Support
•    Prepare Plans for Preventive Maintenance And Spares Procurement;
•    Troubleshooting and problem solving  (Break Down Analysis),
•    Monitor Energy Consumed by Motors and Take Action to Conserve Energy in Electrical,
•    Fuel Savings in Order To Ensure Efficient Operations of Plant and Machinery and Adherence to Defined M & R Expenditure Budget.

Manage Production Activities
•    Maintaining Reordering Levels Of Spares And Coordinate Procurement After Checking The Same
•    Maintain Packing Machine Changeovers as per Variety and should know Changeover procedures for packing machine.
•    Review Records and Registers.
•    Indigenize Spares Along With Vendors And Maintenance Officers.
•    Assures production schedules are met and all issues are resolved and communicated in a timely fashion.
•    Coordination with production team to ensure time machine change overs as per the defined standards
•    Record and Analyze Power, Fuel, and Other Key Utility Metrics and should identify area of improvements.

Buy and Pay For Materials and Services
•    Take Quotations and make justifications for Engineering Spares Purchase.
•    Raise CER for new capex Projects with Justification.
•    Negotiate and Shortlist Vendor for Spares purchase and Vendor Registration formalities.
•    Check, Certify and take approvals from Project Engineer for all Bills Related With M&R Plant & Machinery, Building Contract, Building Stores, Plant And Machinery Stores, And Misc. G.L. Accounts In Order To Ensure Timely Procurement And Payment For Stores Related Items

Review and Reporting
•    Take Regular Rounds and Review Process Log Books To Monitor Plant And Machinery Performance, Discuss Production Problems With Officers, Monitor Safety Aspects Inside The Factory, Particularly Electrical Installations. Identify Wastages In Order To Ensure Efficient And Safe Functioning Of Plant And Machinery


Qualifications
•    Minimum of Higher Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineers
•    At least 8 years’ experience in a Biscuit company or Large Baking Factory
•    Bulk Material Handling Systems (Maida and Sugar from Miranda Automation)   
•    Must have thorough working knowledge of maintenance principles, On Edge, Family Pack and Pile Pack Packing Machine (Multipack / MLT / SVM etc.). Sandwiching Machine (ABM, PT-2, MP4, etc.)
•    Must have Experience of Direct and Indirect Fired Wire band Ovens
•    Should have hands on experience of Cutting and Molding troubleshooting.
•    PLC trouble shooting and knowledge is essential.
•    High Power Diesel Generator and Screw Air Compressor
•    Electrical Drawings,
•    Strong computer application skills with Microsoft Office.
•    Mechanically inclined with a positive attitude, dependable, self-initiative and troubleshooting abilities.
