Job Summary
The maintenance head plays a crucial role in ensuring that Kim-Fay’s factory equipment and machinery are well-maintained, and operations run smoothly. The role holder shall install and inspect machines and electrical equipment and carry out preventive maintenance to ensure that machines remain operational and are running at optimal capacity. The role holder shall lead by example, demonstrating leadership and initiative, holding themselves accountable for the success and challenges being faced by the department.

Job Description/Requirements
• Develop and implement a comprehensive maintenance program: The maintenance head is responsible for developing and implementing a maintenance program that includes regular inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs to ensure that all machinery and equipment are operating efficiently and at optimal capacity.
• Monitor performance of equipment: Regularly monitor the performance of the equipment to identify any issues that may arise. This includes keeping accurate records of equipment downtime and identifying trends that could lead to potential problems.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts and supplies: The maintenance head is responsible for maintaining an inventory of spare parts and supplies needed for maintenance work. This includes identifying the necessary items, working with Procurement department in sourcing them, and ensuring that they are available when needed.
• Develop and manage the maintenance budget: The maintenance head is responsible for developing and managing the maintenance budget. This includes forecasting maintenance costs, identifying cost- saving opportunities, and ensuring that the budget is effectively managed.
• Comply with and ensure team complies with safety regulations: The maintenance head must ensure that all maintenance activities are carried out in compliance with safety regulations. This includes identifying potential safety hazards, implementing safety procedures, and ensuring that all team members are trained on safety protocols.
• Continuously improve maintenance processes: Continually review and improve maintenance processes to optimize equipment performance, minimize downtime and minimize/eliminate waste. This includes analyzing data and implementing new technologies and techniques to improve maintenance efficiency.
• Take overall responsibility to monitor and complete deputed projects, including projects assigned to your direct and indirect reports/teams.
Performance and People Management
• Manage a team of maintenance technicians: The maintenance head is responsible for managing a team of technicians who will carry out maintenance tasks.
• Set maintenance team objectives and monitor ongoing progress and performance in line with the company’s performance management policy.
• Complete performance reviews, manage attendance, leave, disciplinary issues and procedures in line with the company’s policies and procedures.
• Ensure strong communication between staff under your leadership to facilitate exchange of information and to implement change and improvements.
• Provide leadership to team under your leadership. This includes continuously mentoring, training, and development of the team members to improve their technical skills and knowledge.
• Maintain the strictest level of confidentiality and professionalism when dealing with information concerning the company including salaries, performance, pricing, new products development, and any other information.
• Perform other duties as allocated.
• Equipment uptime and reliability: The maintenance head is responsible for ensuring that all factory equipment is well-maintained and operating at peak efficiency, minimizing downtime, and maximizing production output.
• Cost control: The maintenance head is accountable for managing the maintenance budget, optimizing costs, and ensuring that maintenance activities are carried out in a cost-effective manner.
• Safety and compliance: The maintenance head is responsible for ensuring that all maintenance activities are performed in compliance with safety regulations and promoting a culture of safety among maintenance team members.
• Team management: The maintenance head is accountable for managing and developing a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring that they have the necessary training and resources to perform their work effectively.

Continuous improvement: The maintenance head is accountable for continuously improving maintenance processes, adopting new technologies and best practices, and optimizing maintenance activities to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
• Communication and collaboration: The maintenance head is accountable for communicating with other departments, such as production and maintenance, to ensure that maintenance activities are aligned with overall business goals and collaborating with external vendors and contractors as needed to support maintenance activities.
• Maintenance planning and scheduling: The maintenance head is accountable for developing and implementing a preventive maintenance program, planning, and scheduling maintenance activities, and ensuring that maintenance tasks are performed at the right time, minimizing the impact on production operations.
• Preparing and submitting maintenance reports.

Knowledge and skills
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, or similar field.
• Previous work experience as a maintenance technician in a manufacturing environment.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems maintenance.
• Working knowledge of diagnostic equipment and procedures.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and regulations.
• Working knowledge of Kaizen principles.
• Excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Basic computer and report writing skills.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to lift and manipulate heavy equipment.
• Good time-management skills. Respectful of time, able to meet strict deadlines under minimal supervision, with a willingness to work overtime.
• People management experience.
