Our client is a leading construction company in Tanzania involved in Civil works, Real Estate, and Water & Sanitation and Irrigation projects. 

Role Summary

They are currently looking for an experienced Engineer to form part of the Project Management team based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The main objective will be to undertake a complete review of existing Project Management operations (gap analysis) and bring them up to international standards by way of compiling a bespoke set of processes and procedures and to ensure compliance by providing training/mentoring/shadowing and auditing.

Responsibilities

• Track project progress on a micro level of every project, every day.

• Forecast/ predict any possible delays before they happen and rectify them to ensure every project is on or before the program, all the time.

• Allocate resources to projects in coordination with the operations dept to ensure no project ever slows down or spends money at the wrong time.

• Manage project budget and guide procurement to buy, and ensure subcontractors are engaged at the lowest possible cost.

• Ensure Site activities are planned for maximum revenue generation.

• Make every project profitable.

Key areas of attention and performance assessment indicators.

• All expenses on site vis a vis project budget.

• Maintain a program of works approved by both parties at all times and use it as a benchmark for tracking.

• Maintain perfect contractual adherence to terms/ correspondence at all times. i.e contractual deadlines for delivery; extensions of time; notifications of claims, etc.

• Monthly claim maximization and timely submission and certification of the highest possible claim amount.

• Eliminate over-ordering. Stockpiling/ wrong ordering of materials on site.

• Timely and efficient ordering of materials, equipment, and resources for the execution of the scope of work to not allow any unnecessary emergencies, cost overruns, and instances of important items being missed out.

• Identification and control of additional works/ increment in the scope of works/ new projects.

• Instances of director involvement being made necessary being minimized.

Qualifications

• 7 years experience with 3 years in the planning

• Engineer must have started his profession as a site engineer and must have risen through the ranks as a planning engineer

• Candidate must be willing to relocate to Dar-es-Salaam Tanzania. Accommodation for the family will be provided in Tanzania if need be.

• Role reports to MD
