To manage the challenges surrounding radioactive waste during the decommissioning of our 7 power plants, the Fleet Decommissioning organisation is expanding with additional Radioactive Waste Project Managers.
These will work from the ENGIE Tower in Brussels.

Radioactive Waste Management projects ensure the efficient transfer of already produced and future waste to ONDRAF/NIRAS,
in line with the decommissioning waste strategy.

These projects cover the following topics:

implementation of the new waste acceptance & compliance criteria development and implementation of waste streams development and implementation of material and waste inventory development and implementation of radioactive transports

What exactly does your job involves?


As Radioactive Waste Project Manager, you will take on the above projects in close cooperation with the Decommissioning team, internal stakeholders and external stakeholders.
And this under the guidance of a Senior Project Manager, the Operational Fleet Waste Manager or the person in charge of the Waste department.
You will be responsible for executing the assigned project scope according to the defined and approved timing and budgets, and report on progress to your hierarchy and applicable project committees.

you are a civil or industrial engineer you have experience in managing nuclear projects you have relevant knowledge of RaW processes or are willing to acquire this knowledge you have a good knowledge of MS Office tools You work efficiently with the internal and external parties involved You are a team player who can also work autonomously You are result-oriented and know how to network You are precise and you can organise and plan well You have a good knowledge of Dutch, French and English

 
ENGIE Electrabel works together with ONDRAF/NIRAS and the FANC on the technical processes and modalities to achieve efficient transfer of the radioactive waste (RaW: Radioactive Waste) produced and yet to be produced. This includes both the operational waste resulting from operation and the waste that will be generated when the nuclear power plants are decommissioned.
These activities are managed along ENGIE Electrabel's side in the Fleet department headed by the CDO (Chief Decommisoning Officer) which includes both the "relations" with ONDRAF/NIRAS (NDRaW department = Nuclear Decommisiong and Rad Waste) and the technical decommissioning project (D&D programme), itself.

The department is responsible for the contractual, technical and financial management of all radioactive waste flows resulting from the operations, abandonment and dismantling activities of ENGIE Electrabel. This management fits within the legal and regulatory framework with the highest priority for nuclear safety and with great attention to efficiency.
ONDRAF/NIRAS' surface disposal project for cat A waste is in the final stages for obtaining its nuclear operating licence. This entails increasing coordination and consultation to define the technical and financial modalities for the collection, transfer, temporary storage and final disposal of ENGIE Electrabel's RaW.
