Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in civil works and utilities to join our growing team in Nairobi. This role involves supporting projects delivered in Australia, working closely with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams to ensure cost control, accurate estimation, and efficient project delivery. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, commercially astute, and confident working in a fast-paced, international environment.

Job Description/Requirements

Location: View Park Towers, Nairobi
Work Hours: Australian Time Zone (Perth)
Employment Type: Full-time, Office-Based
Compensation: Salary dependent on experience


Key Responsibilities
• Prepare cost estimates, bills of quantities (BOQs), and tender documentation for civil and utility projects.
• Conduct cost analysis, forecasting, and project budgeting throughout all stages of project delivery.
• Evaluate and negotiate subcontractor quotations, contracts, and variations.
• Manage project costs, track expenditures, and prepare regular financial reports.
• Perform value engineering to ensure cost efficiency without compromising quality or compliance.
• Support procurement activities and maintain cost databases and pricing schedules.
• Prepare and review progress claims, payment certificates, and final accounts.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and consultants to ensure transparent communication and project alignment.
• Contribute to project planning and risk assessment, identifying potential cost impacts.
• Ensure all work complies with Australian standards, project specifications, and company procedures.

Skills & Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in quantity surveying, preferably in civil engineering and utility infrastructure projects.
• Experience working with or supporting projects in international markets (Australia experience highly regarded).
• Strong understanding of cost control, contracts, and project financial management.
• Proficiency in MS Excel and cost estimation software (e.g., Candy, CostX, or similar).
• Excellent attention to detail, analytical thinking, and numerical accuracy.
• Strong communication and reporting skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams and time zones.
• Ability to work independently under minimal supervision while meeting deadlines.
