Key Responsibilities:
Engage with business unit managers to identify need for support and to understand their business challenges.
Advise on changes in the legal framework within which the company operates as and when such changes occur and to advise on amendments to business policies required by such changes.
Review commercial contracts to ensure compliance and protect the interests of the business.
Represent the company in legal matters and prepare all relevant documentation for the court.
Execute role responsibilities in a cost effective manner - Contribute to the cost savings target of the Legal function.
Provide legal support and advice in the negotiation, and conclusion of contracts.
Advise all departments on licenses, authorizations, other legal requirements for company projects.
Represent the company in legal forums.
Tend to the business’ litigation matters including suits initiated by the business and suits initiated against the business.
To ensure that external legal counsel is briefed timeously and thoroughly when appropriate.
Engage in negotiations of legal nature on behalf of the business.
Ensure effective communication to all employees with regards to changes in the legal environment.
Assist Legal Advisors with complex legal issues when necessary.
Stay abreast of best practice through personal development.
Academic background & Professional Knowledge:
Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from a recognized reputable University.
Diploma from Kenya School of Law.
Be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya.
5 – 7 years’ experience in legal practice in a law firm or as legal counsel for a large company.
Extensive knowledge of the laws of Kenya with a focus on law that impacts directly on the telecommunications industry.

Extensive knowledge of the laws of Kenya with a focus on law that impacts directly on the telecommunications industry.
Legal writing – drafting of legal documents such as contracts, legal opinions etc.
Legal advisory - ability to analyze legal issues, identify and evaluate solutions and provide legal opinion to the business units.
Litigation management skills to handle administrative procedures within public authorities.
Legal research and data gathering.
Legal risk management.
Document management (legal) - ability to manage large volumes of exhibits, documents, files, evidence, data, and other legal information, and create an effective structure for storage and retrieval.
