Our client is an East African-based local technology frm that provides a complete suite of end-to-end IT and communications solutions that ensure customer satisfaction in every project we deliver.


Role Summary:

The IT Technical Senior Pre-Sales Engineer (PSE) will provide support to sales productivity and deal fow by securing the “technical clause” in complex enterprise solutions in networks & security.


The PSE will collaborate with sales, service delivery, technical, and fnance teams in development of winning bid/tender responses, solution proposals, technical customer presentations and demonstrations.


The PSE role involves working on technical documents, continuously engaging with OEMs, internal sales teams, and customers to scope solutions, develop specifcations and delivery of solution proposals.


Responsibilities:

● Proactively scope the technical solutions required to address customer requirements, assess customers’ stated and unstated needs, and recommend solutions that optimize value for both the customer and the frm.

● Participate in the scoping of technical requirements, confrming allocated resources, time etc are correctly sized for the technical tasks that are being assigned.

● Work with Presales and Sales teams to ensure accurate (free of error), comprehensive (complete as per requirements) & timely (meeting deadlines) submission of tenders / proposals and business bids

● Be articulate in document management involved in tender and proposal responses.

● Develop and regularly update customer presentations and proposals in collaboration with team members, OEM technical and sales managers for all the key solutions in focus.

● Effectively engage in development of data driven decision making processes. Continuously build, analyze and maintain data that assist in decision making using available analytical tools such as Microsoft Excel.

● Aggressively build product knowledge across the solution portfolio and build market intelligence across different market verticals.

● Provide coaching and professional development to junior presales team members and sales associates in order to enhance their product knowledge, technical acumen, and technical sales skills.

● Opportunistically pursue additional business development opportunities within customer frms. Collaborate with sales to ensure these opportunities are effectively covered and advanced.

● Effectively participate in regular team meetings and be part of team interaction, contributing to team motivation and capacity building

● Support in the development of tools and processes for effective improvement of pre-sales functions.

● Be involved in the management of various OEM vendors, ensuring regular engagement, maintaining up to date channel requirements, understanding each OEM sales, ordering tools and processes.


Candidate Requirements:

● Role holder but have both technical expertise and business acumen (meaning they should be able to see opportunities for business and grab them)

● Should also have experience in implementation of the IT projects not just selling

● Should have experience and also be willing to engage in the administrative work i.e preparing contracts and tenders.

● Must be knowledgeable in pre-sales of IT infrastructure and IT security solutions

● A minimum of a Degree in an ICT related feld

● At least 3 years’ relevant experience in a senior IT Technical Presales role.

● Good experience in Tenders/RFP preparation & documentation

● Excellent presentation and communication skills

● Ability to work with limited supervision

● Have excellent Microsoft Offce tools skills

● Strong relationship building skills with a high degree of responsiveness, reliability and integrity

● Excellent attention to details

● Exposure to Key IT solutions OEM

● Should hold several Sales and Pre-sales related vendor certifcations.

● Experience in IT Technical implementation.
