Job Summary
Job Description/Requirements
AGIAMONDO e.V. is the personnel service of the German Catholics for Development Cooperation. The offers development workers a meaningful role working with local development agents. The CPS is a personnel programme for peace-building and the prevention of violence in crisis and conflict regions. It sets out to promote a world in which conflicts are settled without violence. Working with church-related and civil-social partner organisations in Kenia, AGIAMONDO aims to make a contribution towards civil conflict management and the sustainable and equitable development of the country through peace-building measures.
In the Catholic Diocese of Kakamega in Kenya, the Kakamega Forest is the only remaining tropical forest in the country. This area is characterized by abundant rainfall. Unfortunately, ongoing environmental degradation caused by factors such as population growth, illegal logging, and inappropriate land use has, over time, led to a decline in the natural resources available to local communities.
This has led to competition for limited resources, particularly water. The reforestation program of the Justicia and Pax Department of the Diocese of Kakamega is therefore of great importance in preventing future conflicts over resources. This program helps to restore balance and use community resources in a sustainable manner.
