Study Nurse

Kenyatta National Hospital in collaboration with Princess Maxima is seeking to fill the following position in the project “KNH/AALL Study”

Position: Nurse (1 position)

Reporting to: Principal Investigator

Location: Nairobi

Job Term: part-time; 1-year contract

Job Purpose

The study nurse will be responsible for conducting study activities for the AALL Study in Kenyatta National Hospital in Nairobi County. He/she will directly report to the study Principal Investigator.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. 
   
2. Discuss study procedures and conduct screening with facility clients to assess interest in and eligibility for participation in the research study.
   
3. Perform the informed consent processes, obtain written and/or verbal consent for research procedures and document the consent process as needed.
   
4. Input/Record data per approved Standard Operating Procedures in an electronic database using tablets; communicate with data manager to transfer records and maintain devices.
   
5. Conduct the required study procedures as stipulated in the study protocol
   
6. Maintain proper communication between study site, study coordinator and Study Principal Investigator (PI).
   
7. Maintain adequate supplies at the study sites (for example, study forms)
   
8. Submit daily summary of study progress to the study coordinator, Study (PI) or co-Investigators and suggest any improvements to the study procedures as appropriate
   
9. Ensure strict compliance with ethical requirements for conduct of research, privacy and confidentiality of study participants and their data.
   
10. Submit summaries of recruitment and enrolment to the Principal Investigator/Study Coordinator
    
11. Attend regular meetings with the study PI and/or Study coordinator to discuss study progress and activities.
    
12. Provide support for non-research activities at the facility.
    
13. Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
    
14. Any other duties that may be allocated by the Study.
    

 Qualification & Experience

• 
  
• Must be registered by the Nursing Council of Kenya
  
• Must have minimum a Diploma in Nursing.
  
• Must have at least 2 years’ experience working as a nurse.
  
• Must have at least 2 years’ research experience
  
• Must have experience in REDCAP/ODK
  
• Must be trained in Human Subjects protection /Good Clinical Practice
  
• Must have excellent computer skills.
  
• Excellent communication skills: Must be able to communicate to the study participants well and with PI via email and Skype.
  
• Team player with ability to work closely with other study staff at the site.
  
• Flexibility in the job location and start period.
  
• Must be computer literate.
  
• Must be knowledgeable in patient’s navigation.
