Job Description/Requirements

JOB PURPOSE
The Tax Accountant is responsible for managing the company’s tax compliance, reporting, and planning activities. Ensure that the company meets all statutory requirements and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to minimize tax risks exposure and optimize tax efficiencies.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB
● Prepare and ensure timely submission of all tax returns (VAT, Corporate Tax, WHVAT, WHT) in compliance with Kenyan tax laws.
● Liaise with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) on all tax-related matters, including audits, assessments, and correspondence
● keep proper documentation and records of all tax-related matters and ensure availability for audit and statutory review.
● Deliver tax advisory guidance to business units and divisions, encompassing impact assessments of new tax legislation and operational changes.
● Work closely with external tax consultants/auditors on compliance, audits, and advisory matters.
● Support the development and implementation of internal control measures to uphold tax compliance and risk mitigation, ensuring that standard processes are correctly set and aligned with the company’s group requirements.
● Support transfer pricing documentation and ensure compliance with local and global transfer pricing regulations.
● Provide training and support on tax processes and compliance
● Prepare tax provisions and assist in monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reporting.
● Provide support on advance tax calculations, compliance matters, and other routine tax obligations prepared by external tax advisors for various mobility business companies.
● Monitor monthly progress on various tax reports and cases and coordinate regular meetings with tax consultants to review ongoing matter.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum level of academic and professional qualification required to perform effectively in the role
a) Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
b) CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification.
c) Post graduate Diploma in Tax Administration (added advantage)
d) In-depth knowledge of Kenyan tax laws and KRA processes.
e) Experience in dealing with tax audits, handling different tax cases and transfer pricing
f) Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and MS Office.

Minimum level of experience required to perform effectively in the role
Minimum of 5 years of experience in tax compliance and accounting, preferably within a multinational, large local company or an audit firm.
