Tax Manager

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage all tax compliance obligations including VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Corporate Income Tax, and Excise duties.
• Review and file accurate and timely tax returns with the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA).
• Lead tax audits, investigations, and correspondence with KRA and other relevant authorities.
• Develop and implement effective tax strategies that align with organizational goals and minimize tax exposure.
• Review financial statements and ensure correct tax treatment of transactions.
• Provide technical tax advice to management and support decision-making on tax implications of business operations and transactions.
• Ensure the company or clients are compliant with the latest tax laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Supervise and mentor tax staff, review their work, and ensure continuous team development.
• Prepare periodic management tax reports and recommend process improvements to strengthen tax governance.
• Liaise with external auditors, consultants, and regulators on tax-related matters.
• Maintain accurate tax documentation and record-keeping systems.
• Conduct all objections and appeals.
• Conduct tax trainings

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
• CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualifications are mandatory.
• A postgraduate diploma or advanced training in Taxation .
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in taxation, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role.
• In-depth knowledge of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) tax systems, iTax platform, and relevant tax legislation.
• Proven experience in handling tax audits, investigations, and advisory assignments.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• High integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or ERP systems) and MS Office Suite.
