Job Description/Requirements
Key Responsibilities
· Overseeing and reviewing the preparation and submission of all tax compliance obligations, including VAT, PAYE, Withholding Tax, Corporate Income Tax, and Excise duties.
· Reviewing and confirming the accuracy of all tax returns filed with the KRA via the iTax platform.
· Supporting and assisting the Tax Manager in handling KRA tax audits, investigations, and correspondences.
· Conducting and interpreting technical tax research on complex client matters and drafting preliminary advisory memos and opinions.
· Reviewing and validating financial statements and transaction records to ensure correct tax treatment and compliance.
· Providing and documenting internal tax advice to team members and assisting in communicating findings to clients.
· Ensuring and maintaining continuous compliance with the latest Kenyan tax laws, regulations, and best practices.
· Supervising and mentoring Tax Accountants and Assistants, reviewing their work, and ensuring continuous team development and technical growth.
· Preparing and contributing to periodic internal and management tax reports and recommending process improvements.
· Liaising and collaborating with clients, external auditors, and regulators on routine tax-related matters.
· Maintaining and updating accurate and robust tax documentation and record-keeping systems.
· Assisting and organizing the documentation required for tax objections and appeals.
· Conducting tax trainings
Qualifications and Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
· CPA (K), ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification is mandatory.
· A postgraduate diploma or advanced training in Taxation will be an added advantage.
· Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in taxation, with at least 1 year in a supervisory or senior-level role, preferably within an audit or professional services firm.
· In-depth knowledge of the KRA tax systems, iTax platform, and relevant tax legislation.
· Proven experience in managing the end-to-end tax compliance cycle and supporting tax audit engagements.
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
· High integrity, professionalism, and exceptional attention to detail.
· Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or ERP systems) and MS Office Suite.
