Job Description/Requirements

ICF is looking for a TB Diagnostics and Surveillance Advisor for an upcoming program in Kenya. The TB Diagnostics and Surveillance Advisor will lead a team that provides technical assistance to the Division of National Tuberculosis Leprosy and Lung Disease Program (DNTLD-P), National TB Reference Laboratory (NTRL), and the health information system to strengthen laboratory and surveillance capacity across the country.

Responsibilities:

Provides technical assistance on TB diagnostics system strengthening (including diagnostic networks and specimen referral systems) methods and strategies, current best practices, and established diagnostic and operational standards while also being locally relevant and sustainable Provides technical assistance on TB surveillance (including case detection, drug resistance, and prevalence studies) methods and strategies, current best practices, and established diagnostic and operational standards while also being locally relevant and sustainable Collaborates with other members of the project team, Ministry of Health, donors, and other stakeholders to enhance TB diagnostic and surveillance systems Provides training on diagnostics and surveillance to various professional levels Writes technical reports and ensures the technical quality of technical outputs Designs work plans based on national and sub-national needs in consultation with Kenya TB stakeholders Manages team of other specialists and assistants

Required Qualifications:

BSc in clinical diagnostics or an equivalent with a specialty in microbiology including a strong focus on TB At least five years’ experience providing technical assistance and training in TB diagnostic strengthening and capacity building At least three years’ experience providing technical assistance and training in TB surveillance or other infectious disease surveillance Willingness and ability to travel a minimum of 50% within Kenya and other travel as needed
