Declarant and Operations Executive- Uganda

Your tasks

To coordinate sea and airfreight operations in the branch from initial contact to pre-alerts and further to the final delivery and container drop off; to maintain and develop customer relationship

Responsibilities Coordinate nomination for imports and, if need be, for transit shipments; pre-alert on expected shipments. Ensure correct, complete and procedural file handling. Act on pre-alerts received, check correctness and completeness of the documents, advise the customer or POL of any discrepancy or missing documents and follow up; open the file. Ensure all shipments are booked in Tango with applicable and accurate cost and revenue reserves and all events updated as per the DB Schenker SOP and procedures. Handle imports, exports, transit, and government agencies related queries from internal and external clients efficiently, professionally and on time Make sure weight, pieces and dimensions are correctly entered Verify and advise on HS codes and issues related to harmonized tariffs and Common external Tariffs. Ensure all processes of import/transit and export are adhered to in line with compliancy policy of the company and in a timely manner. Ensure all procedures are adhered to for import/transit and export and any new requirements are duly distributed to the team. Ensure follow up of all documents to be up to date for each shipment for timely handling. Ensure communication to the customers related to duty/taxes tabulations and customer approval in writing before entry registration. Maintain customs entry registry and enter all registered entries on time and accurately for control purposes.

Skills & qualifications

Diploma courses/training and further studies Diploma in Clearing & Forwarding Relevant professional courses Computer proficiency Experience min 10 years Up to date training on relevant customs systems and procedures. Comprehensive knowledge of the clearing and forwarding industry, Incoterms, customs and government agencies requirements
