General Purpose
Our client, a leading player in the food manufacturing sector, is seeking to recruit a young, intelligent, and environmentally conscious professional to join their Graduate Trainee Program as an EHS/ESG Intern. The EHS/ESG Intern will support the implementation of occupational health and safety programs, environmental management initiatives, sustainability projects, ESG reporting, regulatory compliance, risk management, and employee awareness programs across all company operations.
Location: Tilisi Logistics Park, Limuru| Stipend: Ksh. 20,000
Duties & Responsibilities
Occupational Health & Safety
- Conduct routine workplace inspections and safety audits across all locations.
- Identify workplace hazards and participate in risk assessments.
- Support incident and accident investigations and monitor corrective actions. Maintain records of incidents, accidents, near misses, and safety observations.
- Monitor compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and statutory requirements.
- Support emergency preparedness activities, including fire drills and evacuation exercises.
- Coordinate and monitor the availability and proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Ensure first aid kits and fire-fighting equipment are adequately maintained and serviced.
- Participate in internal and external EHS audits and inspections.
- Support employee safety training, inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness campaigns.
- ESG & Sustainability
- Support ESG and occupational health and safety risk assessments and maintain risk registers.
- Participate in sustainability initiatives focused on waste management, recycling, energy efficiency, and resource conservation.
- Support Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and community engagement initiatives.
- Assist in ESG reporting and sustainability performance monitoring.
Compliance & Administration
- Support the renewal and tracking of permits, licenses, certifications, and statutory compliance requirements, including NEMA licenses and DOSH certificates.
- Coordinate annual workplace risk assessments and safety audits.
- Assist in processing and maintaining WIBA documentation and claims records.
- Maintain departmental records, reports, and EHS training records.
- Assist in coordinating the annual EHS training calendar.
- Collaborate with managers, supervisors, and employees to promote a strong and positive safety culture.
- Strong analytical, communication, and report writing skills.
