Job Title: Finance Manager

Salary: 100,000 + performance incentives
Job Purpose
The Finance Manager is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership and safeguarding the financial health of the business. The role exists to ensure the Company maintains strong financial controls, protects company assets, optimizes cash flow and working capital, delivers timely and accurate financial information, strengthens governance, and supports profitable business growth.The Finance Manager is expected to be a business partner to the General Manager by translating financial information into commercial insights that improve operational performance and decision making.
Key Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting & Control
Lead the Company's financial reporting function by ensuring accurate, timely and reliable financial information.
• Prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
• Maintain the integrity of the General Ledger.
• Review and approve accounting journals and reconciliations.
• Produce meaningful management reports highlighting key trends and risks.
• Prepare Board reports and financial presentations.
• Maintain robust financial records in accordance with IFRS and Company policy.
2. Working Capital & Commercial Finance
Provide commercial financial leadership that improves profitability and protects liquidity.
• Manage daily cash flow and liquidity.
• Prepare rolling cash flow forecasts.
• Monitor debtor collections and recommend corrective action.
• Oversee supplier payments and creditor management.
• Monitor inventory valuation and stock investment.
• Analyze gross margins, pricing and profitability.
• Partner with Sales and Operations to improve commercial performance.
• Identify opportunities to improve working capital and reduce operating costs.
3. Governance, Risk & Compliance
Protect Company assets by maintaining strong governance and compliance standards.
• Ensure full compliance with statutory and tax obligations.
• Develop and maintain effective internal controls.
• Maintain finance policies and approval authorities.
• Lead fraud prevention and financial risk management initiatives.
• Monitor financial risks and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure complete reconciliation of all financial control accounts.
• Safeguard Company assets through effective financial oversight.
4. Systems, ERP & Continuous Improvement
Drive continuous improvement across finance processes and systems.
• Champion full utilization of the Finance Module in Microsoft Dynamics ERP.
• Improve data accuracy and reporting automation.
• Develop standard operating procedures for finance processes.
• Eliminate unnecessary manual processes.
• Improve reporting efficiency and accuracy.
• Identify opportunities for productivity and cost improvements.
• Support business transformation initiatives.
5. Leadership & Business Partnership
Build a high-performing finance function and provide trusted financial leadership to the business.
• Lead, coach and develop the Finance team.
• Build a culture of accountability, ownership and continuous improvement.
• Set clear performance expectations and monitor delivery.
• Partner with Sales, Warehouse, HR and IT to achieve business objectives.
• Challenge business assumptions using financial analysis.
• Present financial performance and recommendations to Senior Management and the Board.
Academic qualification and experience:
• Professional accountant qualification CPA(K) is required.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting/Commerce or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' Experience in finance and accounting in either FMCG, Beverage, Consumer goods and Pharmaceuticals or Manufacturing distribution industries.
• Two years leading finance department.
• Demonstrated experience in using ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, or Sage X3).
• Advanced Excel, Margins, pricing, stock, cashflow and working capital exposure.
• Strong leadership skills, Confident, solution oriented, disciplined, courageous, high integrity and possess commercial acumen.
