Reporting to: Head of Finance
Position Summary:
Ensure full compliance with Kenyan tax laws while supporting commercial operations through effective tax planning, reporting and risk management. The role oversees VAT, PAYE, corporate tax, withholding taxes, statutory deductions, audits and tax accounting.
Key Responsibilities
● Tax Compliance: Manage all tax compliance obligations, including the preparation and timely filing of VAT, PAYE, Corporate Income Tax, Withholding Taxes, statutory deductions, and other regulatory returns.
● Tax Accounting & Reporting: Prepare tax reconciliations, provisions, and supporting schedules; maintain accurate tax records and support monthly and annual financial reporting.
● VAT & Transaction Reviews: Review business transactions to ensure correct tax treatment and provide guidance on tax implications relating to procurement, inventory, processing, sales, and capital investments.
● Tax Audits: Coordinate KRA audits, reviews, assessments, and other statutory engagements, ensuring timely preparation of schedules, supporting documentation, and responses.
● Risk Management: Monitor changes in tax legislation, identify tax risks, recommend corrective actions, and strengthen internal controls to ensure ongoing compliance.
● Business Support: Support accounts payable and receivable functions when required. Partner with management and operational teams to support sound decision-making and the implementation of efficient, compliant business processes.

Qualifications & Experience
● Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Commerce, Economics or a related field.
● CPA(K) qualification is an advantage.
● At least four years' experience in hands-on tax accounting, tax advisory or statutory compliance. Big 4 audit firm experience is an added advantage
● Proven experience in KRA audits and tax reconciliations.
● Experience in agribusiness, manufacturing, FMCG or processing is an advantage.
● Proficiency in ERP systems and advanced Microsoft Excel.
