Fresh Produce & Ripening Officer

Key ResponsibilitiesFresh Produce (FFV) Management

• Oversee FFV stock movements and ensure accurate documentation in the DMS system.

• Guarantee 100% fulfillment of FFV sales orders.

• Manage farm-gate purchases and coordinate transportation to the warehouse.

• Lead field staff and casual teams, ensuring compliance to SOPs and legal standards.

• Maintain high-quality standards in grading, packaging, storage and transportation.

• Develop and review SOPs and product guidelines for sourcing and handling.

Ripening Operations

• Manage the full ripening and conditioning process for bananas from receiving to dispatch.

• Ensure timely availability of required volumes of ripened bananas.

• Maintain precision in batching, grading, and monitoring key ripening parameters.

• Achieve post-ripening losses below 2%.

• Safeguard ripening assets and ensure optimal utilization.

• Conduct accurate stock counts and update ripening/banana trackers daily.

• Drive safety, hygiene, and process compliance.

Warehouse Operations

• Enforce warehouse SOPs for lean, efficient operations.

• Maintain zero stock losses through accurate stock control (FIFO, EOQ).

• Ensure cleanliness, order, and proper documentation of all warehouse processes.

• Compare physical vs system counts and report variances.

Reporting & People Management

• Generate daily, weekly and monthly FFV and ripening reports to support planning.

• Coach, mentor and support warehouse staff in line with the company culture and standards.

🎯 Qualifications & Competencies

• Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Supply Chain, Food Science, or related field (added advantage).

• Experience in produce handling, warehousing, cold chain, or ripening operations is highly desirable.

• Strong understanding of post-harvest handling, quality control and SOP management.

• Excellent organizational skills and great attention to detail.

• Ability to lead teams and coordinate multiple operational activities.

• High integrity, accountability and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

• Comfortable working under pressure and meeting strict timelines.
