Role Summary
The Logistics/Packhouse Manager is responsible for ensuring timely, accurate and efficient dispatch and delivery of customer orders while maintaining the integrity of the cold chain, minimizing losses and overseeing packhouse operations. This role is key in maintaining high service levels, reducing claims, and optimizing raw material utilization across all markets. The position requires coordination with internal teams, vendors, and logistics providers to uphold quality and client satisfaction. The Packhouse/Logistics Manager is required to ensure integrity and transparency in performing their duties at all times.
Responsibilities
1. Logistics planning and export compliance
● Ensure timely dispatch of all customer/export orders in alignment with delivery schedules and SLAs.
● Handling all export documentation and systems i.e ECS, Kentrade & Afaimis.
● Freight planning and reservations
● Handle all communications with the different offices
2. Order fulfillment and accuracy management
● Supervise order picking, packaging, and loading to ensure correct quantities and product types are delivered
● Accurate delivery documentation and order reconciliation
3. Cold chain oversight
● Monitor and maintain cold chain protocols throughout the handling, storage and transport stages.
● Maintain temperature logs and deviation reports
4. Transit damage control
● Implement measures to reduce product damage during transport through proper loading practices and driver training
5. Raw material utilization & yield management
● Collaborate with procurement and packhouse teams to optimize use of raw materials during packing.
6. Claims & client service level management
● Track and investigate delivery-related complaints
● Implement corrective actions to reduce recurrence
● Coordinate order fulfillment in line with available raw materials and client expectations
7. Delivery timeliness optimization
● Plan and monitor delivery routes and timelines in collaboration with logistics providers
● Maintain delivery records against SLAs
8. Packhouse management
● Oversee daily packhouse activities: grading, packaging, hygiene, and cold room usage
● Ensure smooth flow of product to dispatch
Qualifications
● A Bachelors’ degree in a business related field.
● A professional qualification in inventory and/or logistics management will be an added advantage.
● Experience in handling Tender Stem Broccoli for export.
● Experience in logistics and packhouse management within an agricultural set up.
● Practical experience in use of MS packages and ERP systems.
