FTTH & WiFi Hotspot Field Technician – Moi kesses / kabianga

 2-Hour Live Practical Interview (Mandatory)

Shortlisted candidates will complete a live, on-site demonstration with the site supervisor to prove their technical ability, including:

• Climbing KPLC poles using climbers and performing safe aerial fiber runs.

• Splicing, terminating, and testing fiber with fusion splicer/power meter.

• Logging into MikroTik via Winbox to demonstrate:

  • Mangle rules, hotspot configuration, bandwidth testing, and troubleshooting.

• Configuring ONTs manually or via script (bridge mode).

• Explaining hotspot voucher systems and user-sharing controls.

• Setting up and testing Starlink connections and DIA circuits.

• Performing basic electrical work (installing sockets, powering ONTs/splitters).

 Responsibilities

• Run, splice, and maintain FTTH and hotspot fiber via KPLC poles.

• Configure and manage MikroTik routers, VLANs, OLTs, and ONUs.

• Deploy and align P2P wireless links (Ubiquiti/Cambium).

• Troubleshoot network and user connectivity issues.

• Conduct client visits using a motorbike when needed.

• Maintain uptime, report faults, and document all site work.

 Requirements

• Minimum 3 years’ hands-on field experience in fiber and wireless deployment.

• Willing to relocate and live full-time on-site (free accommodation, water, and power).

• Proven ability to climb poles safely with proper gear.

• Skilled in RouterOS, mangle, hotspot, VLANs, and NAT.

• Experienced in GPON fiber systems and use of OTDR, splicer, and power meter.

• Familiarity with Starlink, DIA circuit setup, and basic electrical installations.

• Certificate of Good Conduct required.

• Motorbike riding license is a strong advantage.
