General Manager

Job Summary

This position is responsible for the execution of the overall business strategy of an organisation that deals with IOT solutions. The job holder will be responsible for general management as well as growing the business. This includes identifying business opportunities for the organization through opportunity identification, acquisition and service provision. Working with the Project Manager, Software Engineer and Customer Service Manager, the role holder is expected to identify and lead in the rollout of best fit cost-effective solutions as required by existing and potential customers.

Job Description

Main Responsibilities of the Job:

Managerial Responsibilities:

•    Participate in the development and setting of business targets in order to achieve corporate objectives
•    Develop business opportunities for the company by identifying leads, targeting and closing deals in a timely and profitable manner·
•    On a day to day basis, manage the business and staff performance,being responsible for the organization’s P&L and for its staff
•    Lead the development of monitoring and tracking solutions, by identifying opportunities in the market to ensure that the company is in line with market demands
•    Identify gaps and develop strategic business solutions for existing and potential customers to ensure that the business is innovative and forward looking
•    Ensure proper billing and costing of projects is done in an accurate and timely manner
•    Lead and coach subordinate team members to develop relevant competencies while ensuring team cohesion
•    Support the IT and Operations departments to develop products and operate in line with the business expectations to ensure that revenue targets are realized
•    Review and report on the financial performance of the business to ensure profitability and cost effectiveness.

Operational Responsibilities:
•    Ensure smooth day to day operations of the business
•    Review client proposals and concept papers to ensure accuracy and relevance ahead of customer presentation
•    Develop and put in place tools, policies and mechanisms to manage finance, customer service and operations
•    Prepare and put in place reporting mechanisms to support cohesive organisation engagement

Academic Qualifications and Person Profile

The ideal candidate will hold the following qualifications and person specifications:

•    Bachelor’s degree
•    Professional qualifications related to project management, IT, business management or any relevant field to the job responsibility domain areas
•    At least 15 years’ work experience managing busy operations preferably in the area of transport, logistics, fuel etc.
•    Experience in leadership
•    Experience engaging senior level stakeholders
•    Experience managing multiple diverse projects and teams
•    Strong bias for action
•    Exemplary drive for professionalism
•    Strong interpersonal and communication skills
