Health & Safety Officer
Job summary
Developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety policies to ensure a safe working environment. The role involves conducting regular site safety audits, identifying hazards, implementing risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with local OSH regulations and international safety standards.
Job descriptions & requirements
· Relevant degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
· Minimum of 5 years of total professional experience in construction or industrial environments.
· Minimum of 3 years of specific experience in health and safety management for Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) or similar large-scale infrastructure projects.
· Strong knowledge of Kenyan Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) regulations and relevant international standards (e.g., ISO 45001).
· Proven experience in hazard identification, risk assessment, and incident investigation.
· Ability to conduct effective safety training, toolbox talks, and emergency drills.
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence staff at all levels to adhere to safety protocols.
· Attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate safety records and documentation.
· Proactive problem-solving approach to safety challenges in a dynamic construction setting.
· Attested by an international organisation.
· Familiar with international ESHS Guidelines, especially the World Bank/International Finance Corporation EHS Guidelines and the sector-specific EHS guidelines for water and sanitation.
