HSE Officer
Job summary
We are seeking a highly motivated, experienced, and results-driven HSE Officer to join our manufacturing team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring a safe, healthy, and environmentally compliant workplace in line with local and international standards.
Job descriptions & requirements
Key Responsibilities:
Health and Safety:
Develop, implement and maintain HSE policies, procedures and programs in compliance with applicable laws and standards.
Conduct workplace inspections, risk assessments and hazard identification.
Enforce PPE usage and adherence to safety rules.
Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses; prepare reports and recommend corrective actions.
Conduct safety inductions, toolbox talks, and HSE training for employees and contractors.
Monitor Occupational health risks and ensure preventive measures are in place.
Oversee fire system validation across plant sections.
Environment:
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and permits.
Monitor wastage management, emissions and pollution control, including wastewater treatment plant operations.
Promote environmental awareness and sustainability initiatives.
Coordinate environmental audits and inspections.
Maintain accurate environmental records and reports.
Compliance & Reporting:
Ensure compliance with all applicable HSE legislation and standards.
Liaise with regulatory authorities, auditors, and external stakeholders.
Maintain HSE documentation and reporting systems.
Support internal and external audits and inspections.
Emergency preparedness:
Develop and implement emergency response plans.
Conduct emergency drills and simulations.
Ensure readiness of emergency equipment including fire extinguishers, first aid kit, and spill kits.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
Professional certification is an added advantage.
2-5 years of relevant HSE experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
Strong understanding of HSE legislation and standards.
Excellent communication, training and reporting skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
