JOB PURPOSE:
The Laboratory Services Salesperson is responsible for driving the growth of laboratory testing services by identifying new business opportunities, building strong client relationships, and providing tailored solutions to meet customer needs. The role involves promoting a portfolio of analytical testing services across various industries including food, feed, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and manufacturing.

CSO Laboratory Budget : KSHs 5.5 Million per month

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Minimum Requirements:
a) Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or a related science field. A background in business, marketing, or sales is an added advantage.
b) At least 2 years of experience in sales, preferably within laboratory, scientific, healthcare, or technical services.
c) Knowledge of laboratory operations and services (e.g., microbiology, analytical chemistry, food safety, environmental testing).
d) Familiarity with ISO/IEC 17025 standards is a plus.
e) Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND KEY RESULTS:
Sales and Business Development
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities across target sectors (e.g., agriculture, food & beverage, manufacturing, healthcare, etc.).
  • Collaborate with the lab team to understand services, pricing, capabilities, and turnaround times
  • Meet and exceed monthly sales targets for laboratory testing services.
  • Respond to client inquiries, prepare quotations, and follow up to close sales.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to inform sales strategies.
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and proposals.
  • Monitor and follow up on payments from clients with approved credit terms.
  • Coordinate with the finance team to track outstanding invoices and aging reports.

Marketing and Client Engagement
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to promote laboratory services (including digital campaigns, brochures, exhibitions, etc.).
  • Maintain relationships with key accounts and ensure regular client engagement.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, product demos, and training sessions to clients.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and client meetings to promote services.
  • Support the development of website content, social media content, and marketing collateral specific to lab services.
Client Relationship Management
  • Maintain a client database and ensure timely communication, invoicing, and feedback collection.
  • Provide after-sales support, ensuring client satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Gather and relay client feedback to the technical team to enhance service offerings.
Administrative and Reporting
  • Maintain up-to-date records of sales pipelines, leads, and performance metrics.
  • Prepare regular sales reports and market feedback to management.
  • Assist with tender preparations and documentation related to lab services.
  • Any other assigned duties

  • Sales revenue growth
  • Number of new accounts acquired
  • Customer retention rate
  • Proposal-to-win ratio
  • Customer satisfaction scores

COMMUNICATION AND WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: The role interacts directly with the following roles: - SHEQ Manager, QA Coordinator, HR Managers, CSO Lab Team, QA Plant Teams, Sales and Marketing teams, Finance (receivables)
