Department: Human Resources / Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

Location: Nairobi


Key Responsibilities:

1. Health and Safety Management

· Develop, implement, and monitor occupational health and safety policies, programs, and procedures.

· Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards and recommend corrective actions.

· Ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) and other relevant statutory requirements.

2. Training and Awareness

· Organize and conduct safety training, induction, and awareness programs for employees and contractors.

· Promote safety culture through campaigns, toolbox talks, and ongoing communication.

3. Incident and Accident Management

· Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement preventive measures.

· Maintain accurate records of incidents and prepare periodic safety reports.

· Liaise with regulatory authorities and insurance providers where required.

4. Workplace Inspections and Compliance

· Carry out regular workplace inspections to ensure safe practices and compliance with standards.

· Recommend and follow up on corrective actions for unsafe conditions or behaviors.

· Ensure fire safety equipment and emergency preparedness systems are in place and functional.

5. Occupational Health Monitoring

· Coordinate periodic medical examinations for employees.

· Monitor occupational exposure and ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Support wellness programs to promote employee health.

6. Documentation and Reporting

· Maintain updated safety manuals, procedures, and records.

· Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly OHS performance reports.

· Ensure all regulatory documentation and licenses are up to date.

Qualifications & Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.

· Certification in OSHA / NEBOSH / NEMA or equivalent professional qualification.

· Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role within manufacturing, construction, or industrial environment.

· Knowledge of local and international safety standards and legislation.

· Proficiency in report writing, record keeping, and use of MS Office tools.

Work Environment:

· Office and field-based role requiring regular site visits and inspections.

· May involve working in high-risk areas requiring adherence to PPE and safety procedures.
