POWER ENGINEERS (ICT SECTOR)

Our client is a leading Telecommunications and ICT infrastructure company specializing in Fiber Optic Network Deployment, Power Solutions, and Digital Connectivity Services across the East African region.

They are seeking a Power Engineer who will be responsible for designing, testing, and maintaining power systems and equipment. The role involves managing operational processes, coordinating shift teams, ensuring power uptime, and maintaining accurate reporting and documentation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

. Design, install, and maintain power systems supporting telecom and fiber infrastructure.

. Conduct site power audits, ensure uptime for power backups (solar, generators, UPS).

. Monitor and maintain electrical safety and compliance standards.

. Oversee daily operations, ensuring power, cooling, environmental systems, and security are functioning within service level targets.

. Coordinate routine inspections and preventive maintenance for electrical, mechanical, and environmental systems.

. Supervise maintenance, repair, and replacement activities to ensure equipment integrity and service continuity.

. Support planning and execution of infrastructure upgrades and capacity expansions in coordination with the Power & Mechanical Systems Manager.

. Act as the primary escalation point for incidents affecting datacenter operations.

. Oversee incident response, ensuring rapid containment, communication, and service restoration.

. Support enforcement of datacenter physical security policies and access control procedures.

. Monitor project timelines, budgets, and deliverables, escalating risks as necessary.

. Flexible to work in any country in East Africa.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

. Degree/Diploma in Electrical or Power Engineering.

. Minimum 3 years’ experience in telecom power systems.

. Familiarity with hybrid and solar systems is an added advantage.

. Strong knowledge of LV switchgear operation and protection, UPS systems, generators, and PLC-based controls.

. Proven troubleshooting and decision-making abilities in critical infrastructure environments.

. Experience in critical facilities management.

. Strong written and oral communication skills.

MONTHLY GROSS SALARY: Negotiable
