Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities:

1. Planning & Work Allocation

  • Prepare shift rosters and off-day schedules.
  • Allocate duties based on employee skills, experience, and workload.
  • Ensure adequate manpower across all stages of production.

2. Time and Attendance Management

  • Maintain accurate, real-time daily attendance records.
  • Prepare Advance schedule and recovery reconciliation for payroll.
  • Processing, reviewing, and validating payroll inputs up to final approval and payment.
  • Ensure statutory compliance

3. Production & Operations Control

  • Supervise daily foundry operations to achieve production targets.
  • Monitor production progress and provide regular updates to management.
  • Identify operational challenges and implement corrective actions.
  • Escalate critical production issues to management in a timely manner.

4. Quality Control

  • Ensure all products meet defined quality standards.
  • Monitor adherence to casting specifications and standard operating procedures.
  • Minimize defects, rework, and material wastage.

 

5. Staff Supervision & Performance Management

  • Monitor employee performance and provide guidance and feedback.
  • Address issues related to indiscipline, absenteeism, and misconduct.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluation of new staff.

6. Health Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce health and safety regulations within the foundry.
  • Ensure proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Promote safe handling of molten metal, machinery, and tools.
  • Report, investigate, and document accidents and near-miss incidents.
  • Ensure toolbox meetings are conducted regularly and attendance is recorded.
  • Ensure all employees sign off the Health & Safety Induction Manual during induction.
  • Oversee issuance, usage, and record keeping of all PPE.
  • Ensure the Safety Committee is duly constituted and meeting minutes are documented and up to date.
  • Maintain an up-to-date incident and accident register.
  • Follow up on all incidents and accidents to full closure in compliance with DOSH requirements.
  • Ensure on-the-job training sessions and emergency drills are conducted and recorded.
  • Coordinate and ensure annual occupational health tests are carried out and records properly maintained.

7. SOPs & Policy Adherence

  • Ensure strict compliance with company SOPs, policies, and procedures.
  • Conduct routine audits and checks to confirm adherence.

8. Inventory & Resource Management

  • Ensure proper handling and accountability of tools, equipment, and materials.
  • Monitor availability and consumption of consumables.
  • Track usage and report shortages or abnormal consumption patterns.

9. Reporting, Documentation & Correspondence

  • Maintain accurate attendance and manpower records.
  • Prepare daily production, manpower, and shift reports.
  • Draft formal letters, notices, warnings, and official correspondence as required.
  • Maintain records of incidents, defects, disciplinary actions, and corrective measures.

10. Communication & Leadership

  • Act as a liaison between management and shop-floor staff.
  • Communicate targets, expectations, and policy updates clearly.
  • Promote teamwork, discipline, and a productivity-focused work culture.

 

Key Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Metallurgy, or a related technical field.

• Minimum of 2-5 year’s experience in a manufacturing, foundry, metal processing, recycling, or industrial production environment, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.

• Practical experience in foundry operations, metal recycling, furnace operations, or related manufacturing processes will be an added advantage.

• Demonstrated experience in production planning, shift scheduling, manpower allocation, and achievement of production targets.

• Good understanding of accident investigation, risk assessment, and implementation of corrective actions.

• Experience in handling employee disciplinary matters, performance management, coaching, and team leadership.

• Experience preparing production reports, incident reports, performance reports, and other operational documentation.
