Job Description/Requirements
Preparing detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects from preliminary design stage to completion.
Monitoring project expenditures, tracking expenses, and identifying cost variances to ensure the project remains within budgetary constraints.
Advising on cost-saving opportunities (value engineering) and the financial implications of design changes.
Assisting in the preparation of tender and contract documents, including Bills of Quantities (BoQ) and specifications.
Evaluating tenders, negotiating contracts, and procuring materials and subcontractors to ensure value for money.
Managing and administering contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Conducting interim valuations of work completed on site and preparing regular payment applications and certificates for contractors and subcontractors.Preparing and settling final accounts at the project's conclusion.
Identifying, analyzing, and developing responses to commercial risks.
Preparing regular financial reports, cash flow forecasts, and cost value reconciliations (CVRs) for stakeholders and project managers.Liaising effectively with clients, architects, engineers, site managers, and contractors.
Conducting regular site visits to monitor progress, assess work quality, and track material usage and consumption.
Mentoring or guiding junior or assistant quantity surveyors (depending on the role's specific level).
Key Skills and Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is typically required.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Proficiency in cost estimation software and advanced Microsoft Excel skills for data analysis and reporting.
Familiarity with Building Information Modeling principles and relevant software is an advantage.
Knowledge of construction methods, materials, and relevant contract law.
Excellent written and verbal communication and negotiation skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
Ability to work effectively under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.Proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong commercial awareness
