Position Overview
We
are seeking a highly experienced Refrigeration & Facilities
Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance operations of our
hypermarket facilities in Angola. The ideal candidate must have strong
expertise in commercial refrigeration systems as the core competency,
along with in-depth knowledge of HVAC, chillers, air conditioning, and
generator systems. The candidate should have a proven track record in
managing large-scale facility maintenance operations.
The successful
applicant will be responsible for ensuring that all mechanical and
electrical systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with
industry standards—ultimately supporting a seamless, secure, and
pleasant shopping experience for customers.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance Strategy & Planning
•
Design and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs
with a primary focus on refrigeration systems, as well as HVAC,
chillers, and generators.
• Schedule maintenance activities to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.
2. Equipment & System Oversight
• Supervise installation, operation, troubleshooting, and repair of refrigeration, AC, HVAC, chillers, and generator systems.
• Monitor and evaluate the condition and performance of equipment, recommending upgrades or replacements when necessary.
3. Budget Management
• Develop and manage maintenance budgets, control expenses, and identify cost-saving opportunities.
• Source, evaluate, and negotiate with vendors for spare parts, service contracts, and technical support.
4. Team Leadership
• Lead, mentor, and train the maintenance team to ensure they are equipped to handle technical operations effectively.
• Assign tasks, monitor performance, and ensure timely completion of maintenance work.
5. Regulatory Compliance & Safety
• Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
• Maintain accurate documentation including safety checks, incident reports, and inspection records.
6. Vendor & Contractor Management
• Oversee third-party contractors, ensuring service quality and compliance with contract terms.
• Conduct regular inspections and performance evaluations of outsourced services.
7. Emergency Response
• Develop emergency response protocols and lead rapid interventions during critical failures or power outages.
• Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure business continuity during emergencies.
8. Reporting & Documentation
•
Prepare and present detailed reports on maintenance activities, system
performance, operational costs, and continuous improvement plans to
senior management.
Additional Responsibilities
• Conduct regular inspections to proactively identify and resolve maintenance issues.
• Maintain a comprehensive log of maintenance activities and ensure accuracy of equipment records.
• Collaborate with other departments to minimize disruption during maintenance operations.
• Promote a customer-focused maintenance culture that ensures a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
• Track and improve equipment uptime and reliability.
• Implement sustainability and energy efficiency practices in maintenance operations.
Qualifications & Requirements
•
Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering,
Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or related field.
•
Experience: Minimum 5+ years of relevant experience managing facility
maintenance, preferably within hypermarkets, supermarkets, or large
commercial properties.
• Key Expertise:
o Refrigeration systems (primary focus)
o HVAC, chillers, air conditioning, and generator systems
o Preventive maintenance and energy management
o Vendor management and budget control
Skills & Competencies
• Strong leadership and people management skills
• Proficient in reading technical schematics and blueprints
• Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting ability
• Excellent communication and reporting skills
• Certifications such as HVAC/R License, OSHA safety certification are an added advantage
