Reporting to the Head of Regulatory, the incumbent’s role will include but not limited to; Build and maintain cordial relationships with all key stakeholders such as Communication Authority, Central Bank of Kenya, Government, GSMA, FSD and other PSP providersProvides analysis and counsel on regulatory issues, suggesting ways to maximize licensing opportunities and minimize environmental threatsIn consultation with the Head of Regulatory, develop the company’s position on agreed issues to lobby with the government and RegulatorReview Licensing terms and conditions and benchmark with global best practicesObtain approvals for new products, tariffs or promotion from Communications Authority and new or updated agent models from the Central Bank of Kenya as and when requiredReview competitor action to ensure that it is within the law and to take appropriate action in cases of violation.Implement Regulatory Compliance Management System for Airtel KenyaDraw and manage interconnection agreements and support Finance in the collection of interconnect debtProvide all Legal and Regulatory support to Airtel Money Kenya including developing contracts and agreements between Airtel Money and key stakeholders e.g., Trust Entity, Agents etcEnforce Regulatory compliance using the internal Compliance Management Framework RequirementsQualifications: A Law degree with excellent knowledge of applicable laws and regulationsAt least 4 years working experience with good understanding and application of competition, Economic or Regulatory Principles.Experience in or understanding of Mobile Financial ServicesExperience in drafting and reviewing commercial contracts Competencies and behavior required: Strategic thinker with strong innovation skillsMultitasker – able to handle, prioritize, multiple projects simultaneouslyTeam player who is able to work collaboratively with regulatory authorities to drive resultsCustomer centric with strong interpersonal and negotiation skills
