Job Role:
On behalf of our client, we are looking for a qualified Sales Manager to Lead the Company’s commercial growth by building and executing a market-facing sales strategy that expands market share across core industrial segments (paints, plastics, rubber terrazzo/flooring, agriculture, livestock). Manage key accounts, distributor/agent relationships, and a small sales team. Drive revenue, margins and long-term partnerships while representing Company’s technical product strengths
Qualifications & experience
1.Bachelor’s degree in Business, Commerce, Marketing, Chemical / Mineral / Industrial Engineering or related field. MBA or relevant postgraduate diploma is an advantage.
2. 10–15 years’ progressive B2B sales experience with at least 5 years in a managerial / leadership role. Preferable industries: minerals/fillers, industrial chemicals, paints/coatings, plastics, rubber, construction materials, agricultural inputs.
3. Proven track record managing key accounts, distributors and sales teams, and closing large industrial contracts.
4. Strong commercial acumen: pricing, margin management, forecasting, tendering and negotiation.
Required skills & competencies
1. Leadership: ability to hire, coach and motivate a sales team.
2. Technical-commercial ability: translate product technical specs (particle size, grade) into commercial value for customers.
3. Strategic & analytical: build data-driven territory and pricing plans.
4. Excellent communication and presentation skills.
5. CRM proficiency (experience with Salesforce, Zoho CRM or MS Dynamics preferred) and MS Office (Excel modelling).
6. Willingness to travel regularly (quarries, customers across Kenya) and to work in field conditions.
7. High integrity and ability to work with cross-functional teams (Production, Quality, Finance, R & D).
Responsibilities:
1 Develop and implement a 12–24 month sales plan to meet/exceed revenue, margin and volume targets across COMPANY product lines.
2. Own key account management: retain and grow top customers (paint manufacturers, plastics processors, rubber producers, terrazzo/flooring manufacturers, agricultural buyers).
3. Build and manage the direct sales team and external distribution network (KPI-driven recruitment, coaching, performance reviews)
4. Create territory plans, pricing strategy, commercial terms and credit terms in coordination with finance.
5. Lead tendering and pricing for large industrial and institutional customers.
6. Coordinate with Production / Operations to align supply, lead times and special-grade requirements.
7. Drive new business development for adjacent markets (exports, value-added blends, private-label, terrazzo products)
8. Deliver regular sales forecasts, pipeline reports and market intelligence to senior management.
9. Represent COMPANY industry events, trade shows and with strategic partners.
10. Ensure customer complaints and quality issues are handled promptly with R&D/QA and that product data sheets are accessible to customers. (COMPANY places emphasis on R&D and product data sheets.)
Salary: Ksh 200,000 - 300,000 gross
