Role Summary

Strong Start’s Sales & Marketing Manager will drive sales efforts across Nairobi to recruit and enrol families for playgroups and trainings. This role is an opportunity for a strong marketing professional with a passion to support women and children to be a part of a larger early childhood care solution.

 

The Sales & Marketing Manager must be passionate about women’s workplace advancement and early childhood development as a way to enable women and children in Kenya.  The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic and driven team. 


Responsibilities

  • Answer all incoming inquiries and handle client inquiries, redirect calls as appropriate, take adequate messages and respond effectively to inquiries 
  • Explain products and programmes to families and potential participants through various communications channels –phone, SMS, video and social media
  • Utilize and manage customer contacts through a customer relationship management (CRM) system
  • Drive sales and recruitment for Strong Start’s multiple programs; implement and contribute to strategy for recruiting, building relationships and enrolling families and domestic care workers into playgroup and training programs
  • Analyse sales/marketing data to develop strategic communication and marketing initiatives to support programme recruitment
  • Coordinate across various departments to ensure incoming and enrolled participants learning needs are adequately served and relevant data is properly captured
  • Work across the company with various teams to continually improve the recruitment and enrolment process
  • Design and deliver marketing materials through various channels 
  • Work with accounting department to reconcile payments and financial processes
  • Provide assistance with development programs, including budgeting, monitoring and evaluation of programs, and report writing
  • Report on budgets to management, donors and investors 

 

Skills & Qualifications

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and speaks with confidence 
  • Strong entrepreneurial spirit and business sense to drive growth and close deals 
  • Outgoing personality with great relationship building and management skills 
  • Proven ability to generate new leads and relationships and systematically convert those leads into sales
  • High level of proficiency with computer programmes (MS Office etc.) and online tools (social media, CRMs, email systems, design)
  • Passionate about women’s advancement and children’s education in Kenya
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment 
  • Strong integrity
  • Demonstrated network and/or local community connections preferred
  • Self-starter with a proactive approach, strong time management and prioritization skills
  • Goal-oriented, hitting monthly and quarterly goals with the energy and stamina to work well in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work independently as well as on a team
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business administration, finance, or relevant field 
  • 2-5 years programme sales and business development experience
  • Exceptional project management skills to monitor leads in the business development process, from lead generation through to closure
  • Experience CRM systems desired
