Key Responsibilities
- General Ledger Management: Maintain the chart of accounts and perform month-end closing procedures, including accruals and prepayments.
- Tax Processing & Filing: Prepare monthly returns for VAT (via eTIMS), PAYE, NHIF, NSSF, and Housing Levy for review by the Finance Manager.
- Inventory & Costing: Reconcile physical stock to the ERP system; calculate landed costs for imported goods (including IDF and Railway Development Levy).
- Accounts Receivable & Payable: Oversee the invoicing cycle, follow up on overdue customer accounts, and verify supplier invoices against Delivery Notes (DN) and LPOs.
- Bank Reconciliations: Perform daily or weekly reconciliations of multiple bank accounts, including M-Pesa Paybill settlements and multi-currency accounts (USD/KES).
- Fixed Asset Register: Maintain an up-to-date register, ensuring correct depreciation rates according to KRA Wear and Tear schedules.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance,Accounting or a related field.
- At least of 3-5 years’ experience in a busy trading or distribution environment
- Must have CPA -K or be a registered member of ICPAK
- Should know the import process
- Should have a certificate of good conduct
- Advanced MS Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs).
- Hands-on experience with ERPs like SAP B1, QuickBooks, or Sage.
This role is ideal for a Tech-Savy accountant to grow His/Her career in structured Finance Team.
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Reconciliation Accuracy: 100% reconciliation of bank, eTIMS, and supplier statements by the 5th of every month.
- Statutory Filing Speed: Submission of all payroll and VAT returns at least 2 days before the KRA deadline.
- Data Integrity: Maintaining a posting error rate of less than 1% upon internal review.
- Debt Collection: Reducing the percentage of “Over 90 Days” debt to a specific company target (e.g., below 5%).
- Audit Readiness: Reducing the number of queries raised by external auditors during the interim audit.
