We are looking for a dedicated Chemist Fellow to join our team and support the success of Project Green. We operate at the cutting edge of algae commercialization in Kenya and invite you to join. As the mad scientist on the team you will be the brains behind many innovations of this exciting start-up.

Job Description/Requirements
You will get to work with top of the industry equipment like photospectrometer, titrator and various ISE electrodes to ‘live’ read water nutrient levels. This role provides hands-on experience in laboratory work, spirulina cultivation, and data analysis, ideal for energetic graduates in chemistry.
Responsibilities
- Manage the greenhouse experiments as well as the laboratory.Design experiments to learn around the ideal diet of chemical elements for the algae, spirulina, to thrive including the impact of environmental variables on its growth.
- Conduct routine analysis of spirulina cultures and their growth and quality performance, including pH, salinity, and nutrient levels and capture data on google forms.
- Collect, record, and interpret experimental data from spirulina growth trials and present findings during learning sessions with the start-up’s Strategy Fellow and Founder.
- Assist in the preparation and monitoring of culture media.
- Support quality control processes to ensure high product standards.
- Collaborate with the research team to troubleshoot and optimize cultivation techniques.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of lab equipment and workspace.
- Participate in community workshops and awareness activities when required.
Requirements
- As a Kenyan Elon Musk you think in ‘first principles’ breaking problems down into their foundational truths and start reasoning from there to come up with new ways of doing things. You are an out of the box thinker and natural problem solver whose mind doesn’t stop thinking and enjoys hard technical challenges.
- Currently pursuing or recently completed an academic degree in Chemistry, Biology (or proof you self-taught yourself in chemistry).
- Strong analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and accurate recording keeping.
- Basic laboratory experience, including familiarity with lab equipment (titration, spectrometry) and safety protocols.
- Passion for atoms, learning, trials, sustainability and environmental conservation.
- Interest to be based in a remote greenhouse lab around Lake Magadi.
- Availability for a min 6 months internship/fellowship starting around July 2025.
