Job Description/Requirements
- Sterilizing and arranging dental instruments and equipment for procedures.
- Handing instruments and materials to the dentist during treatment.
- Operating suction devices and retractors to maintain a clear field of view.
- Mixing materials for fillings, impressions, and other dental procedures.
- Providing chairside assistance and anticipating the dentist and needs.
- Setting up and preparing treatment rooms for patient examinations and procedures.
- Ensuring that all necessary dental instruments, supplies, and materials are available.
- Cleaning and sterilizing dental instruments and equipment after use.
- Welcoming and preparing patients for dental procedures.
- Assisting patients in filling out necessary forms and updating their medical history.
- Educating patients on proper oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care instructions.
- Taking and recording vital signs, including blood pressure and pulse rate.
- Taking dental X-rays as directed by the dentist.
- Developing and processing X-ray films.
- Ensuring proper safety measures, such as using lead aprons and thyroid collars.
- Scheduling appointments, managing patient records, and maintaining dental charts.
- Assisting with billing, insurance claims, and financial transactions.
- Managing inventory and ordering dental supplies and equipment as needed.
- Maintaining a clean and organized dental office environment.
- Adhering to strict infection control protocols, including sterilization and disinfection procedures.
- Following safety guidelines and maintaining a safe working environment.
- Certificate in Dental Assisting
- Certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Copy of national identification document(ID/Passport)
- A minimum of two(2) years’ experience in a busy dental facility as a dental assistant.
- Skills and Competencies
- Good customer service skills
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and materials.
- Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Understanding of infection control protocols and sterilization techniques.
