About Mukuru Promotion Centre

Mukuru Promotion Centre (MPC) is a faith-based charitable organization supporting communities in the informal settlements of Mukuru, South B, Nairobi.  MPC was founded by the Sisters of Mercy in 1985 in response to the community challenges in the Mukuru Informal Settlements.  It is situated at the heart of the Industrial Area, along the New Likoni Road just 1 km off Mombasa Road and borders the Mukuru Kayaba Informal Settlement. 

 MPC endeavors to empower the Mukuru community through education, health, welfare and social rehabilitation services. 


About Mary Immaculate Clinic

Mary Immaculate Clinic provides outpatient services including medical consultations, laboratory diagnostics, minor surgeries, pharmacy services, paediatric care, VCT, and a nutrition centre for malnourished children and adults, serving approximately 130 patients daily.


Position Summary

MPC is seeking a Pharmaceutical Technologist to provide safe, effective, and legally compliant pharmaceutical services. The role involves dispensing, storage, documentation, and management of medicines in line with Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) regulations, Ministry of Health guidelines, and institutional policies.


Qualifications & Experience

·        Diploma or Degree in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.

·        Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in a clinical, hospital, or community pharmacy setting.

·        Registered and licensed by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB).

·        Must hold a valid annual practicing license.


Key Responsibilities

·        Maintain accurate pharmaceutical records in both electronic and manual formats.

·        Manage pharmacy inventory: stock counts, bin cards, ordering, receipt verification, and disposal of expired or damaged medicines.

·        Ensure continuous availability of essential medicines through proper forecasting and timely replenishment.

·        Receive, store, and handle medicines according to Good Storage Practices (GSP), including temperature control and FEFO/FIFO principles.

·        Dispense medicines strictly against valid prescriptions, ensuring legality, accuracy, and proper labeling.

·        Provide patient counseling on correct medicine use, adherence, side effects, interactions, and storage.

·        Offer technical support to prescribers and healthcare staff to promote rational drug use.

·        Maintain secure custody of medicines, including controlled drugs, with proper documentation and registers.

·        Monitor medicine usage to minimize wastage, losses, and unnecessary costs; report discrepancies promptly.

·        Participate in pharmacovigilance: documenting and reporting adverse drug reactions and medication errors.

·        Ensure pharmacy premises and equipment are clean, safe, and compliant with PPB standards.

·        Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with all PPB, Ministry of Health, and institutional policies.

·        Perform any other duties consistent with professional training and PPB regulations.
