Job Summary
ECSAPACH seeks a detail-oriented, tech-savvy Digital Learning Support Officer to ensure smooth operation and continuous improvement of the College’s Learning Management System (LMS). The role focuses on LMS administration, user support, digital assessment setup, training, reporting, and continuous enhancement of digital learning delivery. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive problem-solver with strong technical skills and a genuine passion for supporting education through technology.

The East, Central & Southern Africa College of Paediatrics and Child Health (ECSAPACH) is a regional institution advancing paediatric healthcare through specialised education, training, research, and professional collaboration. Founded in 2021 by paediatric associations from Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, and Botswana, the College promotes excellence in paediatric and child health practice across the region.
ECSAPACH is committed to innovative, accessible, high-quality blended learning. The College is expanding its digital learning infrastructure to support hundreds of learners, educators, and staff across its programs.
Duties & Responsibilities
· Maintain, configure, and optimise the College’s LMS (Moodle), including creating courses, uploading materials, and managing access for 500+ users across cohorts.
· Monitor system performance, manage server uptime, and liaise with IT support to resolve technical issues promptly (target: 99% system availability).
· Enroll learners, educators, and staff; reset passwords; manage permissions/access levels; and ensure accurate role assignment.
· Manage user accounts and conduct regular audits to ensure data integrity and compliance with College policies.
· Create online versions of competency-based medical education assessment tools aligned with College standards.
· Conduct user acceptance testing with Programme Directors and educators to confirm functionality, accuracy, and usability.
· Deploy assessment tools within the LMS and integrate them into the academic records system.
· Maintain documentation and version control for assessment tools and updates.
· Provide friendly, clear, patient technical support to staff, educators, and learners with varying levels of technical confidence.
· Troubleshoot issues such as login problems, course access errors, assignment submissions, and assessment tool functionality (responding to 95% of requests within 24 hours).
· Develop simple and accessible user guides, video tutorials, and quick-reference resources.
· Conduct training sessions for educators on LMS tools, course setup, and best practices in digital pedagogy.
· Assist educators in designing and setting up online courses, forums, quizzes, and assessments.
· Ensure uploaded resources are properly formatted, organised, and accessible in line with WCAG standards.
· Maintain an updated course archive, back up course data securely, and support course migrations.
· Work with Programme Directors to align and make accessible online/on-site teaching documentation.
· Generate and analyse LMS reports on learner access, course completion rates, usage, and engagement metrics.
· Prepare dashboards and summary reports for the Paediatric Fellowship Committee and ECSAPACH Secretariat.
· Support audits and compliance reviews by maintaining accurate, accessible LMS records.
· Track participation trends and identify opportunities to improve course design and learner support.
· Stay current with Moodle/LMS developments, digital learning tools, and online learning best practices.
· Propose practical enhancements to improve user experience, accessibility, and engagement.
· Collaborate with Academic and IT teams on new initiatives, pilot projects, and integrations.
· Champion ECSAPACH’s blended learning strategy and support adoption of digital-first pedagogy.
· Support on-site learning delivery with Programme Directors and teaching site staff to ensure seamless blended learning.
· Provide occasional evening/weekend support for online events, webinars, and assessments.
· Attend meetings and training sessions to stay aligned with academic priorities.
Requirements
Qualifications
· Diploma or equivalent qualification in IT, Computer Science, Education, Administration, or related field.
· Bachelor’s degree or higher is desirable but not essential.
· Equivalent professional experience in LMS administration/digital learning support accepted.
· On-the-job training will be provided.
Essential Skills & Experience
· Advanced IT skills and confidence using web-based systems/software independently.
· 2–5 years’ experience with at least one LMS (preferably Moodle; also Canvas, Google Classroom, or similar).
· Strong troubleshooting ability, technical problem-solving, and user support experience.
· Excellent attention to detail in documentation, data handling, and record-keeping.
· Outstanding communication skills, including explaining technical concepts to non-technical users.
· Strong teamwork and collaboration skills across different user groups.
· Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and manage time effectively.
· Patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting digital learning.
Desirable Qualifications & Experience
· Experience in education, healthcare, or training environments.
· Familiarity with competency-based assessment or medical education frameworks.
· Basic knowledge of online learning content design (videos, quizzes, interactive modules).
· Understanding of data protection (GDPR, DPIA) and accessibility standards (WCAG).
· Experience supporting course design or instructional technology.
· Basic IT security and user data management knowledge.
