FORKLIFT OPERATOR
Job summary
The Forklift Operator is responsible for efficiently and safely loading, unloading, and moving freight within a fast-paced cross-dock and warehouse environment.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Safely operate sit-down forklifts, stand-up forklifts, pallet jacks, and reach trucks to execute daily warehouse tasks.
- Load and unload commercial trucks and container trailers; securely wrap, stack, and stage palletized goods in assigned bays.
- Scan and track cargo movements using RF scanners and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS); verify manifests and bills of lading.
- Rotate stock strictly according to First-In, First-Out (FIFO) standards, and support routine cycle counts and inventory audits.
- Perform OSHA-required pre-shift equipment checks, reporting and removing any unsafe forklift machinery from active service immediately.
- Maintain a clean, orderly, and highly organized warehouse floor while respecting terminal traffic rules.
- KCSE D (plain) or its recognized equivalent.
- Valid NTSA driving license of class B, C, E with a completely accident-free driving record.
- Valid, documented Forklift Operator Certification/License from an accredited body.
- Minimum of 3 years of continuous experience operating forklifts within a busy port, ICD, or manufacturing cross-dock. Prior experience within Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) installations is a distinct advantage.
- Strong hand-eye coordination, deep attention to detail, a safety-first mindset, and basic proficiency in Microsoft applications.
