SUPERVISION:Business Development, Claims, Group Life and Pension Servicing              

PURPOSE:
This role is responsible for overseeing the Corporate Life insurance business through effective management, marketing and development of the portfolio, ensuring that the business is commercially viable by enforcing correct pricing, customer servicing, credit control and managing the claims experience and expenses.  The position builds and promotes a customer focused culture that contributes to the overall success of the group life, credit life and pension businesses through the development, implementation and monitoring of innovative ideas with a view to providing the business with a competitive advantage.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
•    Formulating strategy in line with the objectives of the Company and Group
•    Formulate prudent business acquisition and underwriting norms to achieve annual GWP budget
•    Ensures profitability of the the business portfolio by enforcing proper pricing,  timely premium collection, managing loss ratios and achieving  gross premium targets
•    Takes full ownership and accountability for achieving the set sales growth targets through effective management, marketing  and development of the business development teams
•    Effective claims management and implementation of cost efficiency measures covering acquisition and administration costs
•    Ensuring compliance with statutory and internal control processes at the business units
•    Managing services providers to ensure best service and terms
•    Formulate, build and promote a customer focused culture that supports the delivery of an outstanding service
•    Oversee the differenct sections of the corporate business and have robust measurable Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the team, holding them fully accountable for results
•    Create, implement and measure the succcess of a comperehensive business development, communications and programmes that will enhance our client’s position within the market place
•    Explore new business opportunities to market the products and develops new sources of distribution to expand outreach and increase revenues through leveraged use of technology

•    Actively interfaces with the other Business Units and Companies in the group to ensure smooth and efficient processes and optimum use of resources and technology.
•    Leads, inspires and coaches team members to achieve their targets while supporting their professional and personal development.
•    Supports management projects and participates in the development of policies and procedures.
•    Keeps in sight the need to optimize efficiency and revenue while maintaining diligent cost management.
•    Ensures compliance with all relevant laws, policies, and regulations as a matter of course.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Academic Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or a related field required.

Professional Qualifications
•    ACII/AIIK
•    Member of a relevant professional industry related body

Experience
•    At least 10 years relevant experience with at least 5 years managerial experience
•    Experience supervising and managing professional staff
•    Experience as a trusted resource as a member of a senior level executive team
•    Direct responsibility for the P&L with experience in managing costs and driving operational efficiencies
