Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment & Diagnosis:
o Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate patients’ physical abilities, limitations, and functional needs.
o Develop individualized treatment plans based on clinical assessments, patient goals, and medical history.
o Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to design a holistic care plan.
Treatment & Rehabilitation:
o Implement evidence-based physiotherapy interventions, including manual therapy, exercise prescription, post-operative rehabilitation, and mobility training.
o Provide modalities such as heat, cold, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and massage therapy to manage pain and promote healing.
o Educate patients on exercises and techniques to improve mobility, strength, and endurance, and to prevent future injury.
Patient Education:
o Educate patients and their families about their condition, the physiotherapy process, and how they can actively participate in their rehabilitation.
o Teach techniques for managing pain and preventing recurrence of injury or illness.
Progress Monitoring:
o Regularly monitor and document patient progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed.
o Set and revise patient goals based on recovery progress, pain levels, and functional abilities.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
o Work alongside doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care.
o Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust treatment plans.
Record Keeping & Documentation:
o Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, including assessment results, treatment plans, and progress notes.
o Ensure all documentation complies with hospital policies and legal requirements.
Health & Safety:
o Follow hospital protocols and safety guidelines to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
o Adhere to infection control policies, especially when working with vulnerable or post-surgical patients.
Skills and Qualifications:
Education & Certification:
o Bachelor’s or diploma degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution.
o licensure or certification to practice physiotherapy
o Additional certifications in specialized areas (e.g., neurological rehabilitation, sports physiotherapy) may be preferred.
Experience:
o Previous experience working in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred, particularly in rehabilitative or orthopedic physiotherapy.
o Experience working with patients across a range of conditions, including musculoskeletal, neurological, cardiovascular, and respiratory.
Technical Skills:
o Proficiency in using physiotherapy equipment and modalities.
o Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and kinesiology.
Interpersonal Skills:
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
o Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt treatment plans based on patient needs and progress.
Physical Stamina:
o Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, and moving patients during therapy sessions.
Compassion & Empathy:
o A caring, patient, and empathetic approach to working with individuals who may be dealing with pain, disability, or limited mobility
Working Conditions:
The physiotherapist works in a hospital environment, which may involve long shifts, including weekends, nights, or holidays, depending on hospital staffing needs.
The role may require handling patients with varying levels of mobility and health conditions, including those who are immobile, elderly, or critically ill.
The work can be physically demanding, requiring the physiotherapist to assist patients with movement or positioning
