Job Description/Requirements
Department: Laboratory / Quality Control
Location: Nairobi
Key Responsibilities:
1. Sample Preparation & Testing
o Receive, label, and prepare samples for testing in accordance with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
o Conduct routine physical, chemical, and/or microbiological tests as assigned.
o Record and analyze test results accurately.
2. Equipment Handling & Maintenance
o Clean, calibrate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
o Report equipment malfunctions or deviations promptly.
o Ensure all instruments are in good working condition before use.
3. Documentation & Reporting
o Maintain accurate records of tests, analyses, and results in laboratory notebooks or databases.
o Prepare daily or weekly test summaries for supervisor review.
o Ensure compliance with quality assurance documentation requirements.
4. Safety & Compliance
o Follow laboratory safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
o Handle chemicals, reagents, and waste materials safely and responsibly.
o Comply with all internal and regulatory laboratory standards (e.g., ISO, GMP).
5. Inventory & Housekeeping
o Monitor and manage laboratory supplies and reagents inventory.
o Keep laboratory areas organized, clean, and properly labeled.
o Assist in procurement of lab materials when required.
Qualifications & Skills:
· Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Laboratory Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Microbiology, or related field.
· Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a laboratory setting (industrial, medical, or academic).
· Knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and quality systems.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
· Proficiency with MS Office and laboratory information systems (LIMS) is an added advantage.
· Attention to detail and ability to work under minimal supervision.
