Oncology Nurse

Key Responsibilities

• Administer chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and other specialized oncology treatments in strict adherence to established protocols.
• Monitor, assess, and manage treatment-related side effects and oncology emergencies.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary oncology team to develop, implement, and review comprehensive patient care plans.
• Provide robust patient and family education regarding treatment regimens, home-care management, and coping mechanisms.
• Maintain meticulous documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and treatment responses within the hospital information system.
• Ensure the highest standards of infection control and safety measures in handling hazardous medications.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) or Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) / Kenya Registered Nurse (KRN).
• Specialization: Higher Diploma in Oncology Nursing is highly desirable.
• Registration: Must be duly registered and licensed by the Nursing Council of Kenya (NCK) with a current valid practicing license.
• NCI Recognition: Must be recognized/registered with the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
• Experience: Minimum of five (5) years of active, hands-on clinical experience specifically within a busy oncology unit or specialized cancer center.

Skills: Exceptional intravenous (IV) cannulation and central venous access device (CVAD) management skills; deep understanding of oncology pharmacology
