Job descriptions & requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Dispense prescription and over-the-counter (OTC) medications accurately in accordance with legal and professional standards.

  • Counsel patients on the proper use, dosage, storage, and potential side effects of medications.

  • Receive, verify, store, and organize pharmaceutical stock while ensuring proper labeling and storage conditions.

  • Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock takes, and perform expiry checks to minimize stock losses.

  • Maintain accurate dispensing records and ensure proper documentation of pharmacy transactions.

  • Ensure compliance with Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB) regulations, Good Pharmacy Practice (GPP) guidelines, and internal pharmacy procedures.

  • Uphold high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and workplace safety within the pharmacy.

  • Deliver excellent customer service while maintaining patient confidentiality and professional ethics.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from a recognized institution.

  • Certificate in Pharmaceutical Technology.

  • Registered Pharmaceutical Technologist with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board (PPB), Kenya.

  • Valid Annual Practising Licence issued by the Pharmacy and Poisons Board.

  • At least one (1) year of experience in a retail, hospital, or community pharmacy.

  • Experience using pharmacy management systems and Point-of-Sale (POS) software is an added advantage.

  • Good knowledge of pharmaceutical products, dispensing procedures, OTC medications, and inventory management.

  • Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills with a high level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
