RESTAURANT ACCOUNTANT

1. Daily & Monthly Accounting

- Reconcile daily sales from POS with cash, card, and online payments

- Record all purchases, invoices, and expenses in the accounting system

- Prepare daily flash reports: sales, covers, average check, food cost %, labor cost %

- Perform month-end closing: accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, journal entries

2. Cost Control & Inventory

- Calculate food cost and beverage cost weekly/monthly

- Conduct physical inventory counts for food, beverage, and supplies

- Investigate variances between theoretical and actual usage

- Monitor supplier pricing and flag discrepancies or unusual trends

- Work with chefs and purchasing to analyze recipe costing and menu profitability

3. Payroll & Labor

- Verify staff timesheets against POS clock-ins and schedules

- Prepare payroll data for processing and check for overtime, allowances

- Track labor hours vs sales to monitor labor cost %

4. Compliance & Reporting

- Ensure tax compliance: VAT/GST, withholding tax, payroll tax

- Prepare reports for management, ownership, and auditors

- Maintain supporting documents for audits and health inspections

- Ensure compliance with company SOPs and local accounting standards

5. Systems & Process Improvement

- Manage data in accounting software: QuickBooks, Sage, SAP, or restaurant-specific systems like Restaurant365, Apicbase

- Improve processes for invoice approval, inventory tracking, and reporting

- Train managers on basic cost control and reporting tools
