Job descriptions & requirements

Key ResponsibilitiesBusiness Development & Lead Generation

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities within freight forwarding, logistics, clearing, and forwarding services.
  • Generate leads through networking, referrals, cold calling, and market research.
  • Schedule client meetings and presentations to promote company services.
  • Assist in preparing quotations, proposals, and service agreements.
  • Support the achievement of monthly and quarterly sales targets.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain relationships with existing and prospective clients.
  • Follow up on client inquiries and service requests.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell and cross-sell company services.

Market Research

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities.
  • Gather information on potential customers and emerging business opportunities.
  • Maintain awareness of trade activities involving China, India, and East Africa.

Operational Coordination

  • Liaise with operations teams to ensure timely service delivery.
  • Assist clients in understanding shipping, customs clearance, and logistics processes.
  • Ensure customer requirements are communicated effectively to relevant departments.

Reporting

  • Maintain accurate records of leads, client interactions, and sales activities.
  • Prepare weekly sales activity reports.
  • Update CRM and customer databases regularly

Requirements

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in sales, business development, logistics, clearing and forwarding, or customer relationship management.
  • Basic understanding of freight forwarding and logistics operations.
  • Familiarity with KRA customs procedures and import/export processes is an added advantage.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Self-motivated and target[u1] -driven.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
