SCHOOL NURSE
Job summary
The School Nurse is responsible for promoting, protecting, and maintaining the health, safety, and wellbeing of learners from Kindergarten to Junior School. This role reports to the School Administrator
Job descriptions & requirements
· Provide life saving first aid and basic nursing care for medical emergencies and sudden illnesses during school hours
· Assess students’ health complaints and determine appropriate action (treatment, rest, referral, or emergency care)
· Administer prescribed medications in line with school policy and parental consent
· Monitor students with chronic conditions (e.g. asthma, diabetes, epilepsy) and respond to emergencies
· Identify and manage communicable diseases and advise on isolation where necessary
· Ensure compliance with Ministry of Health and Ministry of Education guidelines
REQUIREMENTS
· At least a Diploma Nursing (Registered Nurse preferred)
· Must have a Valid professional registration and practicing license
· Training in pediatric nursing, first aid, or school health is an added advantage
· Proven experience working with children aged 3 t0 15 years
· Sound knowledge and practical understanding of common childhood illnesses and diseases
· Demonstrated awareness and participation public health initiatives and health campaigns such as immunization, deworming, nutrition or hygiene programs
· Prior experience working in an institutional setting or pediatric setting is an added advantage
